  • ABOUT THE SARASOTA COUNTY CHARTER
    AND THE CHARTER REVIEW BOARD

    The Sarasota County Charter (the "Charter") is the document that defines the structure of Sarasota County's local county government; including Sarasota County Board of County Commissioners and the Sarasota County Charter Review Board (the "CRB"). The CRB is a ten-member board. Board members may recommend Charter Amendments for study and if passed by a 2/3 vote of the CRB, the proposed change is put on the ballot for voters to decide. Charter Amendments may also be placed on the ballot by petition that must be signed by at least ten percent of the number of registered voters in Sarasota County. Both the County Commission and the State Legislature may also place potential Charter Amendments on the ballot. Charter Review Board members are elected countywide by all voters residing in Sarasota County.

  • WHY I AM RUNNING

    The CRB is currently lacking an advocate for the people of Sarasota and Sarasota County's environment; and I will be that advocate if elected to the CRB. I would like to see the CRB take a more active role in community outreach and educating the public about the Charter and the CRB. I would be honored serve on the CRB and bring attention to the the Charter and CRB.

    ENVIRONMENTAL CAUCUS OF SARASOTA COUNTY DEMOCRATS

    I am honored to serve as Vice Chair of the Environmental Caucus of Sarasota County Democrats. The Caucus identifies local and regional environmental issues and candidates to endorse and promote. The Caucus works to elect Democratic candidates who support the goals of the caucus, holds monthly membership meetings to educate the membership on various environmental topics, and participates in community events to educate the public on environmental issues.
